On June 13th, Mimi Brooks keynoted The Conference Board’s 17th Annual Change & Transformation Conference in New York to over 200 executives and practitioners. Mimi led a thought-provoking session focused on building the organizational capabilities required to win in the 2020s.
In her presentation, Mimi described lessons learned in the first 10 years of digital transformation. These first wave efforts focused on acquiring, experimenting, and launching new technologies without building the organizational capabilities, culture, and worker experiences needed to support sustainable change. Mimi cautioned that organizations that simply “buy digital” often find themselves stuck in their digital journey, experiencing the illusion of being digital at a time when becoming digital is critical. The presentation concluded with Mimi’s critical advice on the holistic approach to enabling true business-digital transformation.
